This week-end I had my family coming over. It felt so good to be reunited after so long. I was really excited when my sister called and said that she was planning to come to Montreal with her daughter and my mother. I have been meaning to go to Toronto for a while, but without my driver’s license I couldn’t. I would rather drive than take the bus. I hate going on the bus. Thus I decided to wait until I will get back my license, which is in a month from now.
But as I mentioned above, my little sis wanted to come over, and I welcomed her idea. I was missing my niece, who had turned four years old recently. She’s my little princess from her first day into this world.
They left Toronto early morning, around 4 A.M. and got here six hours later. They got a lot of traffic on the way because they hit the rush hour. It took them one hour and a half to get from Vaudreuil-Dorion to downtown. Then because of all the madness caused by the endless construction areas in the city, they wasted another fifty minutes being detoured from one road to another.
When they finally arrived, my niece was imitating the GPS voice saying out loud: ”we are rerouting you please turn right on rue Argenson.” I helped them with the suitcases and bags and invited them in. Julie, my little angel, ran straight to the kitchen, looking for my chinchilla pet. Needless to add that she returned very disappointed when she could not find it there. I did not have the heart to tell her that it had died. Thus I just said that I gave it away to someone else who had more time than me to care for it. She was not happy with my answer. As a matter of fact, she gave a look, raising her left eyebrow, just like her mother.
While we were having a cup of black tea with milk, I received a phone call from my brother. He was asking me to go pick him up from the Berri UQAM bus station in a few hours. I had no idea that he was planning to visit me. Neither did my mother or my sister Lynn. She said that she mentioned to him about her trip, but did not seem to be eager to join her.
Anyway I did not mind at all having him here. Only once in a way I get the chance to have them under the same roof. I set up an alarm for 4PM on my phone to remind me that I had to pick up a summer curtain Longueuil before going to Berri UQAM.
