The promotion

The promotion - Roderick Murdock

Today I learnt from my real estate agent that one can get a private mortgage Montrealas well. Until this morning, I had never heard of such a thing. Since  I was not familiar with the terms and how it was done, I asked him to give me more details. I was curious what were their interest rates? Where they offering something better than my bank? I doubted, but I thought it was worth checking out one or two of these private lenders.

When I got to the office, I asked my secretary to give me a list of all of the Montreal-based private lenders that she could find online. I was not planning to get an appointment or call every single one. I wanted to have a look at their online page, read what was on their website.

Since it was a very busy morning in the office and I had two meetings to attend, I could not have a look at that list until late in the afternoon, when work was almost done. As I was googling the first lender on my list, my wife called me.

She sounded ecstatic. She had just been promoted. She was experiencing mixed feelings. She was happy she finally got it, but she was worrying that she would have to spend less time with our daughter. Being a manager, meant a higher paycheck but also longer hours of work.

I congratulated her and told her that she had nothing to worry about. My schedule was done at 4 P.M. and I had no issue going to pick up our little munchkin from daycare and spend the rest of the evening alone with her. I reassured her that I knew what I had to do and how to take care of the baby girl.

She agreed, though not before adding that she would make me a list of the things I needed to do for my daughter. This time, I did not comment anything. I simply smiled and let it go. It was a great day for her and I had no intention of ruining it. I was delighted that she got the promotion. She deserved it better than any of her colleagues. I know how much she worked to bring new clients to their firm and how many hours she had dedicated to work. Even in her last trimester of pregnancy, she continued to reel in clients and ensured that they were getting what they were promised.
