I was new to South Africa and had moved there from Montreal where I had been living for years. I was there because I had got a job as a vet and I was very happy with it. I was away from my country for the first time and I was enjoying it a lot. I was having a ball of time and I was gaining a lot of experience. The new culture, the new language, new people; everything just amazed me and I wanted to explore the country.
I had a busy schedule there, however I managed to roam around the city during the evening. I have loved animals since I was a child and I could understand their feelings. Since Africa has a large pool of animals, so I kept busy. There were other vets whom I befriended and we soon became closer. We would plan for lunch and dinner together and we would spend most of the time together. It was then when the three of us decided that we should live together and share the expense. The idea was brilliant and the three of us launched our search for a small house which had three rooms. Sooner, we found one and we immediately shifted there.
However, I wanted to have the air quality tested so as to be on the safe side. Knowing that air quality helps in making the process of breathing easier and you can always apply safety measures so you can make it even better. I knew about this because a few years ago, there was a campaign of air quality testing which was launched by some local NGO there. They tested the air quality and held awareness seminars in the city to make the public aware of the term, its explanation, how it helps and how one can make the air around him better.
When I shared the idea with my friends, they were amazed and nodded in agreement. They said that they surely want it done because after all, it concerned health and safety. The next day was Saturday and we had a holiday. Therefore, we decided to contact some environmentalists and get their help to have our home's air quality tested. After doing a bit research, we accessed to a company and we went on to discuss what we wanted. They understood our requirements and we struck a deal.
